Lost to the World

Lost to the World

A Poem by Tammy

Lost to the world

where comfort is no more,

tension hums within a body

strung tight as a yo-yo,

twined,

waiting for release

Lost to the world

innocence forgotten

butterflies splattered

on the windshield of yesterday

fluttering ceased

Lost to the world

a soul of optimistic hope

spilling blood until life

seeps below half,

happiness saddened

Lost to the world

a fool who believes

in the trust of love

that forever exists

beyond the final cry

Lost to the world

even with

all these lifted arms linked together,

these numberless feet treading so close

Very nice. I like the sense of bleakness in the poem. I also like metaphor of "butterflies splattered
on the windshield of yesterday." The last stanza has a nice punch that brings the meaning of the poem home, very nicely. Great job!

nicely done, Tammy--I loved the repeating line--it fit in with the overall theme--and a great use of the words/prompt. tovli

Well done! I like the yo-yo metaphor for tension. You're a very good poet, Tammy. A pleasure to read.
