Coffee Date

Coffee Date

A Story by Tammy
"

I love Autumn but the season seems to go by so fast as soon as the leaves fall..

"

A kaleidoscope of color falls as wind scatters the peace of a mid-October day.

Melancholy thoughts invade my mind while I watch a mist dampen Autumn's gift and my mood.

We need rain, I know, it's not the weather that has me down, not really.

It's that my favorite season will soon end even though there is still two months left; if you go by the calendar.

The coffeehouse I'm sitting in has a coziness but it can't ward-off the chill that has set in my bones.

The swirling steam of my raspberry mocha taunts my nose with the promise of comfort while providing a $3.55 facial plus tax, of course.

loved the wit--totally set up with powerful words and images! nicely done. Poet--you need to do more prose and more short stories! I see flash fiction in your future! tovli

What an interesting piece! The part about the coffee was so, well, true. The details of the price of the coffee helps me feel like I know the poem well, as we have all bought a coffee for $3.55 plus of course the tax. *smiles* But it's a grand little poem and I know exactly how you feel. Flora.
