To Be or Not...

To Be or Not...

A Poem by Tammy

My emotions collide with one another
as I continue pondering

the pro's and con's

of our continued unity

Vivid memories have blurred
my vision of the image

that has  dulled over time

but now haunts my heart

with ghost of the past

Finding a compromise

within the structure of our relationship

to help alleviate the pain

that's been inflicted

will take all our combined efforts

if we want to continue to be

Brave words because they admit the situation and the last line is virtually the ultimate truth of make or break

'Finding a compromise / within the structure of our relationship / to help alleviate the pain / that's been inflicted / will take all our combined efforts / if we want to continue to be'

This is a sad poem. Structually you've made it flow smoothly, with an extra line to each stanza - 4 / 5/ 6 that somehow builds up the importance of the situation - clever. It's an emotional read. Thank you for sharing.

I've often heard it said, that it takes two to make a relationship work.

The rocky roads a relationship can face... it's what we do in those defining moments that decide how much we still really want it... a perfect look at how we can question what has been and wonder if it should still be.

Relationships certainly do take work to stay viable. Your final line was the perfect summation. Sharon
