Sentimental Conversation

Sentimental Conversation

A Story by Tamila

“I apologize for being so rude to you tonight”, Mila said embarrassed, “You know I am not a mean person. I am not.” She repeated.

“I know” Marcus answered in a soft voice, his eyes tender.

“I still have two more hours” she though. “Tomorrow I’ll go back to my boring, ordinary, pointless life, but tonight I get to be around you for a little bit longer”.

And then Mila thought of Kim. Her flawless always tan skin and her supermodel face, her self-confidence and how she always sounds brilliant every time she is talking.

“Marcus is too good to show me that he doesn’t want my company anymore” she thought. “He’d be just as sweet as before, but this is nothing more then his good manners. I am sure he says and does things out of mere politeness. Marcus is too kind to put an end to my stupid sentimental feelings. I’ll have to do all the work myself”.

“You should go. Your date is waiting”, she said sharply, without looking at him.

His fingers lightly touched her skin, tracing a line from her neck to her shoulder.

“You still smell the same”, he said quietly, a touch of regret in his voice.

“You still look the same”, she answered in the same tone of voice, turning to him for a brief second, and then turning away, her eyes bitter.

He suddenly smiled that mischievous smile she knew so well:

“Do you wanna ditch them and run off with me?” he winked at her.

She looked very surprised for a second, then she laughed and then almost screamed: “Yes!”

He took her by the hand: “Lets go.”

“I am sorry, guys, we have to go.” Marcus told their friends, when they walked out, while Mila kept her head down, giggling.
