TreasureA Poem by TamaA man is held captive and all they want to know is where he is hiding the treasure. Will he tell them or was there no treasure after all?The powers rise and fall as the waves of the sea. Ruin, death, the forgotten gold, all housed in a forgotten soul. They asked him but he never spoke remaining calm and occasionally clearing his throat. They thought that darkness would drive him mad and push him to reveal his past. Yet he sat there quietly, embracing the dark like an old acquaintance. Running his finger along the wooden floor sparks of light pounced through his mind, and he began calling her name. Softly he whispered to the empty air but no answer came, only the chill of a blade. They held it to his throat and asked him once again. "There is no treasure," he said with a smile. Their faces twisted at the sound of lost money and their hearts yearned for something out of their grasp. "Love is all I ever had," the man said, snatching the blade. He slit his throat and fell to the floor, out of his pocket rolled a silver locket. Tucked inside was the only thing he had, a picture of a woman holding his hand. "How pathetic," the shadow said to the other. "There is no such thing as love, it is not a treasure." © 2014 TamaAuthor's Note
