HeartlessA Chapter by TamaMai has just killed a man and now she is ready to move on to the next one. Until a familiar face gets in her way.The sky kept crying as its tears hit the tip of my head. Each of my hair strands started to straighten. My hair felt cold like my heart. No feelings were in me and I knew I was guilty. My head softly settled on pieces of soft grass as I laid next to him. I placed my hand on his heart. His body was restless with movement. Then I could hear a slight thump from inside of him. I lifted my right hand, the symbol on it reminding me of what I needed to do. The symbol glowed brightly then faded away to darkness. Soon clouds twisted and the sky echoed with the color black. There was no sun or moon, just us. I reached near the back of my kimono belt, gripped it and pulled it out. No pain struck my heart. I pricked my finger with the sharp tip of my knife. I remained silent. Both my hands raised up and with the knife in my hand I jabbed it down, through his skin until there was no beat left. His soul lifted through his body. I took it, trying to resist, but it's my instinct. The rain stopped and all was over. The wind blew harshly as it expressed its sorrow. I knew he was approaching. I ate my "loves" soul. First my right then my left foot rose off the ground and the magnificent light of sunrise shown. I lifted my arm, trying to touch the sky. I wanted to know what it would feel like. Like a tornado my body began to spin, faster and faster. Beams flew out of my hand and a re-cap vision produced through my eyes. I was with him and he gazed into my eyes. "I love you," he said. No later after that I killed him. You may feel sorrow, but I can feel no pain. I began to slowly trudge through the grass, leaving the body there for nature to take. The openness of my sandals were being affected by the now thunder storm. My body began to suddenly feel weak.. Stopping, I began to ponder. "Is this who I am? A cursed monster. Was it what I have to be or what I need to be?" A slight wind blew, slapping raindrops against my cheek, making it look like I was crying. I began to transform to my full human form, as the star symbol began to glow once more. Wanting to stop, a dryness spread in my mouth. I wanted to stop but I became hungry for my next victim, more death. I picked up my slow walk towards nowhere. I had nowhere to go. Suddenly, I could smell it, the strong sensation of human flesh following behind me. Now all I had to do was tempt him into my sticky web. My head tilted a pinch to the right as I turned. I could see him and could sense his appeal towards me. His crystal clear eyes accompanied his hazel hair. A slight grin began to form at the edge of my mouth. He began to approach me as I stood their, gracefully, watching for him to come closer. My silky brown hair and capturing eyes served as my disadvantage. "Hello, Mai," the man said in a sneaky voice. I began to grow suspicious, only I knew my true birth name. Who was he really? "You are very tempting, but of course you knew that, he said as he ran his smooth hand across my face. I began to snicker with pleasure and said smoothly "Hello, Kotaro." He smiled as he began to walk circles around me, inspecting me. "What do you want?" I asked with evil in my eye. "Do you enjoy toying with my senses?" I attempted to use my hand as a whip to smack him, but as my hand made its way to his face I felt him grab my hand. Trying to pull away he just grabbed my hand tighter. He was a power stronger than me. Tired of resisting I finally loosened up. He carried my hand to his face and kissed it like a proper gentleman. "You know I really do miss you. I told you..." he said. "You act as if doing this to me wasn't enough for your entertainment!" I screamed. I pulled away from his grip and continued to walk as if I wasn't interrupted. I could hear him in the distance saying "Mai, you're mine. You work for me." I couldn't stand it so I stopped with my back to him. "You're pretty luck I'm bound to you because if I wasn't I would kill you." I paused and when I turned around he was gone. I don't know what to do, I'm frozen in the world and in my mind. I began to feel very tired and weary. Then out of nowhere I collapsed. I then knew what he was doing to me. I closed my eyes and began to have a severe flashback. I began to fall back in time. I was transferred back 15 years. I was at my old brick mansion, leaving with my black coat. My hood was up, so you could not see the blue eyes I had when I was human. He was standing in front of my house, waiting patiently for me. The sky was dark but the light of the moon reflected off of the puddles caused by the previous day of rain. Finally, I got close enough to where I could see his face, illuminated by the moonlight. He reached out his hand and I took it. "You look beautiful tonight my love," he whispered. "Thank you, Kotaro," I replied with a soft smile. "C'mon let's go," he said with a firm tone that made me nervous. "Where? we're going on a date right. Mom's watching the baby so we should have the whole night to ourselves." I gazed into his eyes, lost with confusion. "No, we're leaving this place. You and me let's go. Now!" his voice began to raise and before I knew it he had violently grabbed my hand and pulled. "What is wrong with you? Let's go inside right now," I said with a shake. "I'm taking you with me now. You are my wife and I'll be damned if you don't listen to me," he answered. "I'm going inside. To our daughter. You need to calm down." I turned to walk back inside but then I could sense the anger and rage that was building up inside of him. He did not seem like himself. I became terrified as the man before me became less of my husband. Then, he pushed me down hard. My head hit the concrete and I blacked out. Next thing I knew I woke up like this. I could feel that I had changed. I felt empty inside. I rushed into the house. When I approached the door my shoe sole splashed as it hit the floor. I looked down, not realizing what I had stepped on. It was red and leaking from the house: blood. When I opened the door I could see my daughters little body. She was dressed in clothes that my mother had made her but now all she wore was blood. My mother and father laid on the floor next to her. Their faces were pale and lifeless. Her eyes were wide open with pain. I just stared at her stiff body. What did I care? I was already a heartless monster and my daughter was already dead. Her blood was on my hands and I did not know what to do. Kotaro finally began to release me from that old memory. I could sense that he wanted me to remember what happened for a reason. He wanted to remind me of who I really was. My eyes twitched with uncontrollable spasms. I laid in the grass, too tired to continue. The grass pierced my back but I was able to fall asleep.
