We all have our own idea of truth and no one likes that to be challenged. I love how your poem says that, while at the same time acknowledges the absurdity of our own positions and that, regardless of whether we admit it or not, we know its absurdity.

They keep us guessing, keep the o'le brain cells colliding. Choosing the right words can cause desperation through uncertainty. Valentine, I thank you for reading but you picked one of the crappiest poems I have ever written (and I've written some awful doozies too) so I just ask that, if you're ever around here again please consider the sampler platter of moo shu werbles. They're cute, cuddly and mostly harmless.

The truth isn't always best. Your poem is a beautiful reminder of that. I'd rather surrender to a poetic escape... Great title, as well.

Yes, shower me with pretty words of deceit so that I may feel wonderful always. That sounds like a life of living in the clouds I'm not sure I would mind hahaha. I greatly enjoyed The Worst Poem in the World :)

Mark Twain said of lying (alledged) that sometimes there just no truth to tell. I have this old mirror,
cracked on the edge and concaved just so, that tells me each morning that I am far more attractive
than I really am. It is the most important piece of furniture in my house.
I love this poem...

I have been in this place and it really sucks ! The desperate need for self protection to accept an illusion is truly tragic. Beautifully written and deeply insightful too. Penny

Fear is not us … but it is a demon of sorts … often leading us to guide our behaviour with our baser emotions and instincts, which is part of us but no truer than the finer parts of our nature.
