Dragonskin Slippers

Dragonskin Slippers

A Poem by Tally
"

My daughter has been reading a book called 'Dragonskin Slippers' by Jessica Day George and the title captured my imagination.

"

Dragonskin Slippers are all the rage
I don’t care if their red, blue or beige
Dragonskin Slippers are on my list
I’ll buy them ‘cos I’m sure they exist

Dragonskin Slippers with a buckle on top
All shiny and new on the rack in the shop
Dragonskin Slippers to put on my feet
To make them look pretty and feel so neat

Dragonskin Slippers will lead me a dance
And if I find them it’ll be by chance
Dragonskin Slippers I really do need
For my pleasure to be just guaranteed

Dragonskin Slippers oh how I wish
To make me feel so terribly swish
Dragonskin slippers on my feet you will sit
If only they were real I have to admit

(The title is taken from a book by Jessica Day George)

I like this work because it has a wonderful flow to it... I love how you utilized rhyme in this piece as well... your lines are very organized with a good meter to tie them together... the first stanza sticks with nine syllables while the second stanza jumps to eleven syllables... very well rounded work! Excellent!
