MissingA Poem by TallyA poem for missing children everywhere. At the time of writing news reports have stated that Shannon Matthews has just been found.
Please listen, hear our voice
Where we are is not our choice
The tunnel is long and there is no light
Listen hard and know our plight
We want to dance, we want to sing
And have the love of our family ring
But where we are that’s hard to tell
Is it heaven or is it hell
The birds are singing and spring is near
The love we want is oh so dear
Forget us not because we are here
In your hearts and thoughts you love us dear
As birthdays come and birthdays go
The grief and pain is one you know
Unwrapped presents and gifts pile high
And yet another day goes by
The days are long and nights are short
To get us back we know you’ve fought
Tomorrow is just one more day
When yet again we cannot play
Our teddies and toys they gather dust
To play again with them we must
You close your eyes and think we’re here
When morning comes you wake with a tear
The truth is harsh in broad daylight
As we are just visions of the night
Your dreams are nightmares full of fear
Your heart cries out you want us here
So close your eyes and pray real hard
For we are gone, but not forgotten.
