Born Late

Born Late

A Poem by 'talie

I think I was born late.

Some people say there’s no significance to the date.

But I think I should’ve been born earlier,

In a time when hair was big, and curlier.

Like when teens went cruisin’

While others were out boozin’.

Perhaps I should’ve been born when paisley was in,

And acid trips took you for a spin.

When Old Glory suffered from culture shock,

I’ve heard some crazy things about Woodstock!

Maybe along the lines of “Saturday Night Fever”

I could see myself as a disco-er,

Rockin’ a pair of platform shoes,

And my favorite 8 track of rhythm and blues.

Or maybe when leggings were hip,

And break dancers did all kinds of flips,

Grooving with a boom box

In multicolored tube socks.

But maybe instead of fate,

There is a significance to the date

I often wonder the same thing. Wonderfully written.

Maybe? I suppose that many a mind has pondered the possibility and you've addressed it in an interesting, quite well flowing write.
