Chapter 1: The BeginningA Chapter by Anonymous GirlWhen Summer finds the truth about Fiona.School was about to begin when she arrived. Her friend was standing in the English corridor, leaning over the wall and waiting for her. From the other end of the corridor Mrs Johnson was coming, English teacher of Summer and Fiona. Summer had a very various feeling that some one was watching her behind the door of the English corridor she entered from. When she turned no one was there. She ignored it. "Hey there." Fiona started with hurriness on her face "Where were you? What happened? You were nearly late for the class." She continued with a nervous smile on her face that Summer never saw before. "Hi. Sorry, got traffic." Summer replied with a nervous smile too. "Right everyone!" began Mrs Johnson, with a simple normal smile "Put your homework on the corner of the table; Louisa will come around and collect it. No homework; detention after school, 15 minutes. Got it!" Adrian had a shock on his face like he had seen something huge that he never saw. Mouth opened, he looked around the class for help. Summer knew what he had done. Pleading for help his stare was. His mate was laughing at the back looking at him and the shock on his face. I don’t understand why they don’t do their homework on time so they don’t have to suffer from detentions. God help these idiots! Summer thought. Every one was excited for the homework. The day before Miss had said "Best home work will get a B. Excellent will get an A. Outstanding will get an A*. If average will have B’s, A’s and A*s, next lesson everyone will have a free class." The whole class gasped, then cheered and then got busy in murmuring. But a short time later, 5 seconds or so, Miss continued, "No excuses for homework. I won’t accept it. No homework, no free class. They will be sent to library to spend their whole lesson, writing will do homework next time’, and a detention would be after school, 15 minutes." Summer was surprised on it that he didn’t remembered it. He didn’t do any homework means if they will be having free class he would be in library writing what Miss had said. When Louisa came over for his work he whispered something in her ear that any one could barely hear. She nodded and went ahead to collect rest of the home works. After whispering in Louisa’s ear, he started to look at his girlfriend, Hazel, searching for her eyes but she was so busy chatting she didn’t even looked in his way. A moment or so his eyes moved and searched class when his eyes met Summer’s. She shook her head in disappointment. Summer and Adrian were like brother and sister. He whispered back ‘what’ moving his shoulders upwards and his eyebrows stood up. School was alright, so far. Every class was exciting and full of fun and jokes. Summer and Fiona seemed to enjoy them but Summer didn’t spoke much. Last class was Science. Every one was cheery and happy; they said good bye to the two friends on the way out. "Bye Fiona and Summer", "See you both tomorrow", "Have nice a day you two", "See you both later. Tada" this is how every one stated bye to them. They both packed away every thing and set off for home. On the way home, Summer didn’t spoke nor said a word. Fiona never felt such a silence of her. "What’s up, Sum? You haven’t talked properly since the English class started." at last Fiona started. She couldn’t stand the silence; it’s her biggest enemy. There was a long silence, and then Summer replied "Nothing, Fin. Just wasn’t in mood today." "Tell you what, I just don’t understand your “moods” sometimes!" Fiona said with making speech marks in the air when she said 'moods'. "Well this is Me.", Summer shrugged without looking around, until a while later she asked "Fin, can I ask you a question?" Fiona nodded on her question. "Have you ever had this feeling about that someone was watching you but there is no one around?" Fiona stopped and looked at Summer with a shock and open wide eyes like someone has done something wrong. "I will talk to you tomorrow, Sum, you go home and take some rest. Okay", she replied with calmness in her voice like Summer had never asked her a question like that one before. Summer watched Fiona walk away. She saw her disappear on next turn to the street where she lives. Summer was all alone in the street now. She was surprised on her answer and couldn’t understand what gets into her. Just one question makes her go Miss Mysterio. I don’t understand why every time she walks away when I ask her this question; it’s like the question triggers the switch of her brains to off. Summer gave it a thought for a long time until she reached home. Fiona didn’t talk to her by text, call or web chat. Neither she replied nor attended the call or called back. Whole evening went but no answer from Fiona until Summer gave up. I will talk to her tomorrow in school and this talk would be a proper talk and she can’t skip it. Summer reassured herself. She said goodnight to her Dad, kissed him on his cheek and went to bed. Closing her eyes she said to her self: tomorrow is a big day. * * * Summer was sitting alone in her chair watching the desk as if her reflection was in there calling for her. Fiona sneaked in the class without letting Miss know that she was late. Her name was called on the registration and she replied. Summer didn’t look up at her nor talked to her. First two classes went like this and the two friends didn’t say a word to each other until the break. "Hey Summer! How are you?" it was weird hearing Fiona talking to Summer in a formal way. Summer looked up at her for a long time and replied "Hi. I am fine thanks, how are you doing?" Summer replied like an interview had taken place between them two. "I am okay." Fiona responded. "Why didn’t you reply to my question yesterday?" she asked Fiona. "I thought it wasn’t necessary." "Oh great! Now everything related to you is not important to me!" Summer said like something has gone wrong "Look Fiona, you can tell me anything you want. We’ve been friends for a long long time. You can’t hide it from me though; you know that, don’t you?" Fiona gave it a long thought until she spoke, "I guess its time you should know stuff that you don’t know about me." Summer sat their ready to listen whatever it was. "I was young, at the age of 13, when my Mum died, you know about that. After her death I started to feel like someone was watching over me. I couldn’t work it out; whether I was in danger or was being protected by who ever it was. Sometimes it felt like I was being looked after and then some time later it felt like I was at risk. I tried to work it out many and many times but I failed, every single time." Fiona’s eyes were filling with tears while telling Summer. It was like she was doing a biggest crime of her life. "When I turned 14 my feelings got stronger and stronger, day by day. On my 14th birthday I saw something like my future. I saw I was standing next to you fighting with things; I don’t know what they were, they were coming out from shadows though. But then I thought that I was just day dreaming, that’s all. But those visions didn’t stop. One day I saw I was being attacked, the other day I saw I was fighting for you and you were injured. I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me. I started to ask questions from my self, what’s wrong with me why am I day dreaming so often?", Summer could hear the grief and sorrow in her voice. "After some weeks of my birthday I told my dad everything about what was going on. First he started to cry but then he told me everything, everything that they had done and everything they had done for me and everything that was going on around us." Fiona looked up direct in Summer’s dark blue eyes. "Summer you’ve got to be careful, there are things around us. Those things are dangerous for us, for both of us. In my futuristic scene I also saw you throwing fire from your hands." Fiona finished. Summer was looking in her direction but not in her eyes. "All that time you have been hiding this stuff from me. All. The. Time! You didn’t trust me, did you?" Summer began after Fiona finished. "No Sum! That’s not the thing. I thought you won’t believe me." Fiona said taking her hands towards Summer’s but she pushed herself away from her. "How could you even think I won’t trust you? How could you? We have been friends since the age of 4 and you thought that I won’t trust you? And besides you didn’t even give it a thought that the same thing could be happening to me." Summer said. Fiona could see tears filling her eyes and then starting to fell. "No Sum! That’s not the thing. Please listen----" Summer interrupted her by pulling a hand up of stop "Please, you don’t have to say any thing. Just leave me alone." "No! Sum! Please, listen to me!", Fiona called. The bell rang and before she could say anything more, Summer had already walked away. © 2012 Anonymous GirlAuthor's Note
