That I ask

That I ask

A Poem by Anthony M. Roman
"

A poem about what is there to come when there's nobody to see it.

"
How long 'till the break of morning
is the moon going to shine?
How long 'till the covert night
is the Sun feeding the vine?
And when will the oldest clock,
give away it's final knock?
That I ask.
Then we'll wait the sunrise out,
hidden in the shade of mountains
While the beasts of darkest night
roam the day and bask in light.
Then what will become of man?
That I ask.
How long 'till the oceans dry,
and instead of sea... just salt?
And then when the stars shall die,
what is left of our world?
That I ask.
Whose name will the last man living,
scream towards the starless sky,
When the mountains shall be sand,
nothing left of you and I.
That I ask,a hopeful soul,
Yet no answer, none at all.
