AflameA Poem by Ron NewtonA poem for those who know what it's like to be bound in darkness but have escaped...Aflame Cold?, is this what lingers inside my mind?. the frost of Anguish…,creeping through my feelings, freezing me in a wretched desolation, this cold blackened world shattering my sanity like thin ice, resonating my madness within. Sorrow takes hold of my frozen heart, squeezing joy and blood alike together falling to bind my ever lamented serenity… Darkness?, is it what dwells inside my heart?. This dark decrepit plague ravages through my body, it’s twisted presence attacks my will, tearing away the seams of my tranquility, dragging me down into the shallows of shadows…, Light?, this is what sparks the flames of my soul, a blazing phoenix, soaring through my heart purging this hellish nightmare of darkness from my entire being, the phoenix…, my soul, shining brighter than any sun thaws my mind of it’s anguished madness cleansing my sanity banishing that blackened world from my soul. The light has lit my soul aflame… © 2015 Ron Newton |
