Introduction
The night was cold and wet. The young girl ran down the edge of the woods. “Give me the child,” an evil voice said. “Or may there be hell to pay.” The girl shook her head and held the little 2-year-old baby close to her. “No, Never.” She closed her eyes and ran fast out of the woods.
She landed within a town that had light bulbs and an actual road. ‘Nothing as what we have at home,’ she thought. The girls’ name was Kei. Kei looked around the street and saw a bunch of nice houses about two stories tall. ‘Most of our houses are made of wood and mud,’ she thought again. She looked around for 28 Elm Street. After finding it, she ran as fast as she could, limping. She walked slowly up, put the child down, and took out a note that read,
“Please take this young girl, her name to be Nana. She comes from a special place with magic, magick, and fantasies. (see the book) please explain everything to her as she gets older. Tell her as well that both her father and I, her mother, are to be dead. Dead by the time you get her. It matters not how we know, we just do. Our servant girl, Kei, has brought her, but she will as well be gone. Thank you much.
~Lady Kumundo”
Kei sighed as she put the note on Nana. “Be safe,” she said. She bent down, kissed the young girl, and died.
The young girl grew up to be known not as her birth name Nana, but as Angel, to her new parents meaning ‘The Angel Of Hell’ but to her, it was just meaning Angel. Nana had never known that she was adopted nor that where she had come from had actual magick, the kind you would read from story books. But one day made her life, as she had known it make a change for the worst, going for even worse.
Chapter One
Syo!” Latina called loudly, “Give me my shirt back!” Latina cornered her twin in the only corner in the room. Syo shook her head wildly. Just then, Jarard came in. “Ladies, ladies, what doth we be arguing about on thes Saturday?” The girls went over to the couch and each threw a pillow at him.
“Latina! Syo! Jarard! Come down here! The Deckers are here!” Their mother, Vanessa called. Latina stomped her foot. “Hold on Mom!” she called back, looking at Syo. “Just give me my shirt and we can go,” Latina explained as calmly as she could. Once again Syo shook her head. “Get your asses down here now!” Vanessa yelled even louder. “Your dad and I have to leave!” Syo gave Latina her shirt and headed downstairs with her sister and brother. “Oh yeah, Sis, if you touch my shirt again, I swear I will kill you, okay?” Latina threatened.
Syo and Latina went into the other room to see their friends Yo, Angel, Takaya, Emma, and Sasha Decker. Jarard hid in the other room for about three minutes repeating “Don’t say anything about cheerleading.”
He came out and appeared out of the corner. “Hey guys,” he said, looking around for Angel. “’Sup Jarard my man!” Yo said. Jarard smiled a bit. “Nothing much Yo. What’s up with you?” Yo shook his head. “Just doing. You know, with the sisters and all.” Yo went into the others room with Syo and Latina. Takaya, Emma and Sasha went into the spa room, and Angel and Jarard went for a skate ride.
While they were skateboarding it was so quiet, Jarard decided to start the talking.
“So, how's cheerleading?” he asked. Doh! Shouldn’t have said that! He remembered. “Oh, tis fine, tis fine. How's staying home with you sisters?” Jarard laughed. “Tis annoying, tis killing!”
The two came up past the river to a huge hill that seemed to go down non-stop. Angel looked at it and remembered the first time she had ever seen Jarard.
Chapter 2
The hill was even bigger because they had only been five years old. She sat and looked over to the river. ‘Jarard, its such a beautiful day, isn’t it?’ Jarard only nodded his head. She saw a red flower growing on the hillside. She decided she wanted it because it matched her dress. When she got a hold of the flower though, she lost her balance (which she never really had in the first place), and toppled over head first.
The amazing thing about this memory is that when she fell, she didn’t necessarily falls, more like floated down. No one ever knew how this had happened, but all were relived that she didn’t get hurt.
Especially Jarard. From that day on he was with her. His house was hers. Her brother and sisters always stayed at their house as well.
When the two were done at the hillside, they headed back to his house. “Hey Angel!” a voice called from behind. She turned around to see a boy. A boy with the name of Joe. He had been teasing her and asking her out, and she was getting annoyed with it.
“What do you want Joe?” she asked. She put her foot down to stop the skateboard and hoped Jarard had kept going. “You look so hot riding that skateboard you know?” he moved closer to Angel and wrapped he in his arms, while she tried to push him away.
“Leave her alone!” Angel looked up to see Jarard. Joe shook his head and took Angel even close to him. “No. She likes me,” Joe said. Jarard knew that wasn’t true, just because she was crying. He went over to Joe and took Angel back. “Leave her the hell alone or I will kill you, I promise.” Joe looked at Jarard angrily. “You wanna fight about this?” Both the boys nodded and Jarard pushed Angel to the side, taking the pocketknife that she always carried out of her pocket.
“You ready?” Joe asked. “What do you have to do with Angel anyways?” Jarard shrugged. “Just her boyfriend. Nothing major.” Joe smirked and came running towards Jarard. Jarard took the knife out and plunged it in Joes’ heart as Angel shrieked.
CHAPTER 3
“Its alright now Angie,” Jarard said, coming over and hugging Angel. “Shush now. You’re alright. I hand do what I did.” The two got on their skateboards and rode to Jarard house. When they arrived, Angel stared out the house, horrified.
All around them were police cars. Angel turned to Jarard. “What's happened?” she cried. Jarard shook his head. I really don’t know. They couldn’t see Joes body already, could they? Stay here. I’m going to go find out. Don’t move.” Angel nodded and Jarard went over to see what happened. He approached an officer, Sergeant Carter, to see what happened. “Excuse me,” Jarard said. “What's happened here?” the officer looked at him. “That’s for us and these families to know and you to read in the paper later. Go to where you belong.” Jarard just stood there. “Where do you belong?” Sergeant Carter asked. “Right here,” Jarard answered him. The officer sighed. “Fine. Since you claim to be part of one of these families, the parents, or rather, your parents, are wanted criminals. We are taking you and the other family, who’s also in this, and putting you in foster homes.” He looked towards where Angel was standing. “Who in the hell is that?” Jarard took a big gulp. “She's…my girlfriend and best friend. She’s also in the family…the other family I mean.” The officer walked up with Jarard leading the way. Jarard put his arm around Angel as if to protect her from the office. “You, girl, what’s your name?” Angel looked up while Jarard wiped the tears from her eyes. “Angel,” she said. “Angel Marie Decker.” The officer moved his eyes as though he didn’t like the fact that she spoke in a different language than him. “Okay. Angel, are you, by any chance, an exchange student from England or the U.K.?” Angel shook her head. “I am from the family here. You can ask either my brother Yo or Emma, my sister.” The officer nodded and went over to the other officers. Yo and all the others came over.
Yo, what’s happened?” Angel asked with Jarard still wrapping his arms around her. Yo shook his head. “I don’t know Sis. They said something about Mama and Syos’, Latinas’ and Jarard mama and papa and that’s really it.” Angel fell to the ground. “Mummy didn’t do anything,” she said. “She's just been lonely since Dad left. She only goes out with Mrs. Fiete and Mr. Fiete. They don’t do anything wrong. Though, they are always almost never home…that is very strange. We are always at the Fietes. Oh my…my heads starting to hurt.” She looked around and waited for Yos’ response.
“Angel, sit down over at that corner,” he said finally, pointing to a corner next to the fence. “As for what has happened, I have nothing to say except for we just have to keep our heads on.” He went over to where Jarard had put Angel down and lifted her head to look at her face. It was red and hot with perspiration. Yo took her in his arms and stated rocking her back and fourth repeating “Its okay Angel. We’ll be fine.” Jarard came up from behind him. “Is she gonna be okay?” he asked. “I don’t know,” Yo said. “Its like an asthma attack, call it what you may. They come up often, though you never fully know when they’ll come, what mark they’ll make or if she’ll live through them.” Yo saw the officer coming over and asked Jarard to take over of caring for Angel. Though there were screams, Jarard heard nothing but Angels’ pants for breath and saw nothing but her struggle for life though this mysterious attack.
“Okay,” Yo said to officer Carter. “Talk to me. What’s going to become of me, my sisters, and our fiends here?” Sergeant Carter looked at him. “We are going to put you all in foster homes. Luckily, we have a place to put you all.” He looked over to Angel. “All but one that is. For now.” He pointed to Yo, Syo, and Takaya. “You three are going to go with Mr. Cagier to the Colombo’s. You will be spending until your eighteen there.” Angel saw her brother, sister and Syo being led away through her tears.
Jarard held Angel as hard as he could while he saw Emma, Sasha, and Latina being towed off to a family called the Garrisons’. Officer Carter then walked up to Jarard Angel. “Lets go boy.” Jarard shook his head and held on tighter to Angel. “You want your little English girlfriend to go with you, don’t you?” Jarard nodded and stood up, gently putting her head down. “Yes. I refuse to be put anywhere not near Angel. Oh, by the way, did you hear her name? ANGEL!” The officer sighed and nodded. “Fine. I'm not the one who’s going to take care of you.” He looked at a piece of paper clipped on a clipboard. “Actually, you are going to be taken care of by the Carpathians. Sounds like fun, eh?” Jarard nodded. “Si. Mucho fun. Now, I’ve a question. Do they already have children?” Jarard asked this more for Angel rather than himself because, even being a cheerleader, she was never good with people her age, though there were some certain acceptations. Once again Officer Carter looked at his clipboard and nodded. “Yup. Two. And they are your age. Twins named Jessica and James. Why?” Since he didn’t want the officer to know the real reason, he just shook his head and said, “I just wanted to know.” He helped Angel into the car and laid her down on his lap.
He pet her hair as they rode through town and past about fifty miles and came to a stop at an old house. Blue paint peeled off the walls of the outside. A middle - age man stepped out and greet the officer while Jarard stayed in the car.
“Sorry about the inconvenience,” Officer Carter said, “But do you mind if we add a ‘child?” The man looked at him. “A…an extra child? Who?” Carter sighed. “A young girl. His age. 12.” The guy nodded. “Okay. No problem.” He looked around. “Where are y?” As soon as he said that, Angel started to open her eyes and sat up. “Where are we?” Jarard turned away from the two guys talking and to his new girlfriend. “Oh…um…we are at our new house,” he replied. ”Are Yo and the others here?” Jarard shook his head. “Afraid not.” He saw the tears in her eyes and hugged her. “Don’t worry. We will be fine. They have other kids here too. Adoptive, maybe.” They both stepped out to meet their new father.
CHAPTER 4
Yo stared out of his window near his bed. He remembered how it was only moments ago that they were all having fun. It was when they heard sirens that everyone panicked. Everyone except Takaya that is. She just continued to play games. After that, everything went down the hill after that. It went so horrible, Yo had hoped dearly that Jarard would see the lights and go hide, taking Angel with him. He knew Angel would have never seen them. She never sees anything.
Tears came to his eyes when Syo came into the room and plopped on Yos’ bed. “Something wrong?” she asked. Yo shook his head. “I’m just wondering what’s going on. I’m so lost. What’s happened, what’s going to happen, when are we going to see our family again?” Syo nodded. “Your right. We have no clue what’s going to happen and what’s in the making.” She hugged Yo. “We will all stay in this. Promise. Just remember, you have me, our new brother Shane, and you have Takaya.” Yo smirked. ‘Takaya will be freaking wonderful to deal with,’ he thought.

Fancy looking with gold trimmed around the edge of the door and windowpanes. At the front stood their new foster mother, Helen, who wore a long, old fashioned dress, their new father, Michael, who wore a tux, and their seven lovely children Hailey, Thomas, Bray, Bryan, Kim, Cloe, and Samantha. Hailey was nine, Kim was seven, Cloe was five, Samantha was three and all the girls’ looked exactly alike in their pink dresses with their brown hair and pale skin. Thomas was the oldest being ten, then Bray and Bryan both being eight. They too had brown hair and pale skin.
Latina led the way and stepped up the stairs. Helena walked from the house, meeting the girls halfway. She took a very short time of studying each before she got excided. “How adorable!” she exclaimed. “Michael, don’t we have the best looking children?” Michael nodded. “Yes Helen. They are very adorable.” None of the girls knew how to react, so they just curtsied. “And so well behaved,” Helen complimented with a big sigh of awe. As she led them into the house with the rest of the family following, Emma leaned over to Sasha and whispered, “We will so win them over.”

Jarards’ and Angels’ new foster fathers’ name was Louis. He was single and forty years of age. He also worked everyday from one in the morning to ten at night. Jessica and James never went to school, though they really were exactly Jarards and Angels’ age. For not going to school, Angel thought they had a decent education, though Jarard thought they could use a bit of teaching. No one knew why. Jarard was downstairs with James and Jessica while Angel was in her and Jarards’ room. Angel sat in her room on her mattress, which was only on the floor because they didn’t have enough money for bed frames. “Papa may work, but he apparently has not a lot of money. Maybe we shouldn’t have come here,” she thought aloud. She looked around until her bedroom door opened and Louis walked in. Just in courtesy, Angel stood up in the presence of her bachelor foster father and curtsied.
“You may sit, darling,” Louise said, walking in. “I have to go to work in a minute. Gotta leave early. I just wanted to see how my new child was doing in her new surroundings. Why aren’t you downstairs with the others, turtledove?”
Angel shook her head and shrugged. She didn’t feel comfortable with Louise calling her cutesy names, and she knew Jarard wouldn’t stand for it. “I just feel like staying here. Not much to do. Too much to think about.”
Louise nodded in understandment. “Don’t worry, starlight. Just make sure you spend some time with James and Jessica, okay hunny?”
Angel nodded as Louise kissed her on her forehead and left down the stairs. As soon as he walked out, Jarard walked in and sat on the mattress and put his arm around Angel, who was sobbing.......
