Vamp Wars: Chapter 4A Story by Tai-San
Chapter 4
By the time I got to the cemetery, it was already getting dark, so I went over to my favorite thinking tree and laid to rest. Thanks to Briana, I loved the cemetery, and everything in it. It was my personal place.
I was having trouble sleeping with Mama taken away from me so fast. Things were going through my head so fast. Why’d that group have to take Mama away? How’d they know her name was Xaiou? She never told anyone her name besides me. Who’s in the Gang of Four?
This was when my name completely changed. Word in the village was that I went crazy and killed Mama. At this time the townspeople found Mama’s body and the notes. At this time the Gang of Four were out looking for me. And at this time I was risking my neck being unarmed in a nice calm cemetery. As I thought these thoughts, I gently fell asleep.
When I awoke I saw a guy about my age coming over to me from the other end of the cemetery. I stood and walked towards him. We both met at the middle. He was tallish with black pants and a black shirt on. I looked in to his eyes that were full of sadness and emptiness. It made me feel bad. We started to talk to each other.
“Hey, my name is Alex.” He said. “Your kinda cute.” I’m sure he saw my cheeks grew red for a second. “I’m Anastasia.” I looked at him. “You wouldn’t know.” He smiled. “Do you want to----“ Alex started, but caught him off. “No, you may think I’m normally weak, but I’m somewhat stronger than the average mortal. Plus, I know a vampire when I see one. Your pale, but that could always be a natural skin color like mine. Also, there are rips in your clothes from being dead up to a year and I can see the bite marks on your neck.”
I thought I made my point, but he just laughed. “Then why aren’t you running away?” I giggled. “Please! My friend is half vampire and very destructive. If I’m not afraid of her, why be afraid of you? The most you’ll do is help me by biting me with the ‘pickle’ I’m in right now.”

“Come with me.” I asked Alex why. “Because someone is looking for you.” He grabbed my hand and we ran, missing tons of gravestones, big and little. When we stopped, he had brought me to a bare spot with a white flag.
“Xaiou! You can come out now! She’s here!” Alex yelled out. I stepped back a bit but Alex held me tighter so I couldn’t move. I stood frozen while silver white mist came all around me and the ghost of Mama appeared.
She came over and gave me a hug, but it was as cold, empty, and sad just like Alex’s eyes. Mama was the first one to speak. “Hon, I knew that you would come here.” She turned to Alex. “Thank you so much for bringing my Ana Maria to me Alexander. You did always do what I asked.” Mama turned back to me. “Mama, you know him?” I asked. Mama nodded. “And so do you dear.” I looked at Alex trying to remember.
“Remember the only boy you would ever hang out with?” I still didn’t remember. So Mama continued. “He said ‘I will always protect you forever’ last year before he died. This is where he ended up. He became a vampire. You know a lot about vampires.” I really couldn’t grasp what she was saying. I mean, yeah a friend that I spent all my time with died…….but it couldn’t be him……. Could it? “Alexander Glenn Stephens?” I asked in a whisper. Mama shook her head.
“Mama-----” I started to say, but she had only limited time. “I have to go. Stay here with Alex. Go wherever he goes. Don’t worry about school or cheerleading. Your safety is more important.” With that Mama left me alone with a vampire who could go crazy at any time and bite me. I was very scared at this point.
I twisted my arm away from Alex so he would let go and I went back to the tree. Alex did follow me though. “Um, excuse me!” He called, but I completely ignored him. “Did you not hear you Mother? She said to stay with me. C’mon, I know a place we can go to.” I turned around and started yelling at him. “DO YOU THINK I CARE? ALL I WANT IS MY MAMA! I DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE!” My voice was all screechy. I guess it was because winter was approaching. I fell to my knees and banged the ground hard with my fist, crying. I wasn’t no preppy girly girl {Ok, maybe a little} and I was never able to cry a lot.
Alex must have known somewhat to leave me alone, because he walked past me and gathered all my stuff together. I figured that either way I had to go with him. I thought that in that one day I had gone crazy, but compared to the days ahead of me, this was one of my sanest days. I can tell you one thing and that is that none of my days were normal after starting to live with a vampire.
