In My Garden

In My Garden

A Poem by Tai Chi Italy
"

I have always thrived on nature and am glad to be back amongst it at last....

"

There is a covered archway
Of honeysuckle and ivy

There are roses in the hedgerows,
There are wild flowers
I could gaze at for hours
So intricate, so inspiring
So old and worth admiring.

This year I have seen snowdrops
And blue bells, daffodils of every
Kind, poppies and cornflowers and all
Manner of nature’s fern.

Stinging nettles and blackberry hedges,
Dock leaves to ease.
A compost heap to appease my conscience.
I have a herb garden and thus far
Three tomatoe plants growing
Along an old granite wall.
A wall filled with a family history

In loving memories of

Jemima Puddle duck and fragments of
Childhoods and life as they lived it past.

This home is steeped in history.
It is simple and cosy.
Just the way I like it.
I look out of my kitchen window
At fields and cows and countryside
That hovers in a Cornish mist.

This could be my place of pure bliss.
There is just one thing I miss
But I can’t complain! Well I could
But there would be no point.

I am lucky to have
Trees in my garden
Instead of only weeds in my heart….

I am where I want to be,
Writing poetry in my garden.
Pottering till my demised heart’s content.

I will always love you and I guess that this will do
I will just have to be content without you.

Thanks for taking us to your private little paradise! There are rare places such as that all over the place, sometimes as subtly obvious as a garden to more hidden ones like a small riverside niche on a path on one of my uncles' houses. Wish I had brought something to write with because that place was so calming, the feel of the sand beneath the edge of the water gliding off of m fingers with the current, the sound of the rushing river, the scent of the trees and earth... It was wonderful. I remained for a good 15 minutes on my own there just thinking. Need to go back to it sometime and try to write. :) I'll hsut up now haha. Again, thank you for bringing us to your place of memories and peace.

wow
this is so beautiful. it's like a colorful painting, with the sweetest melancholy. it's a masterpiece. and my favorite epigram is this:

I am lucky to have trees in my garden
Instead of only weeds in my heart

Brilliant.

Amazing how love accepts absence, absorbing the emotion of the heart and forming comfort and companionship out of solitude.

Your poem lights the windows of your place with a liquid glow; a garden of bliss moody with incomplete happiness--but happiness just the same.

Beautiful work...my favorite.

Agreed. That was simply beautiful. The description of the garden alone gave off a sense of love. I'm so glad even though I'm living out of my car I now have a garden and peaceful feelings I can enjoy through your writing. Well done. Please never stop this.

This was so beautiful, it made me tear up. I really loved the simple undertone of love. It wasnt forced down your throat, it was just there humming in your ear. An echo that all of us who have known love lost can appreciate. I loved your picture that you painted. I could see the cottage in the foreground with the sun beeming down upon your garden. Theflowers truly splashed color into my mind. Well done. xoxo--D.E.

such a wonderful poem ! I would love to see this garden. I adore gardens. So sad, here it is actually impossible to live in a place with garden, when one lives in a city. It is a wonderful poem, full of enlightment and beauty...

"Pottering till my demised heart's content" says it all. I also like the trees in garden instead of weeds in heart. Enjoyed the read and wish you well.

whan an amazing piece of poetry. It appealed to me more maybe because I also thrive on nature and love to write poems about them. I enjoyed every single word of it and you just ignited my eternal wish of having my own garden. great work.
