In your reply to Chris, you wrote, 'The pain of seeing their children hungry is more painful than the hunger of the children,' Never has a truer word been spoken
There is a brand of Iranian Caviar called Almas, that retails at over
$30,000 per kilogram; it is the worlds most expensive food.
According to the charity 'Save the children,' it costs just 50 cents a day to
prevent a starving African child from dying.
Only one word suffices for how our world has come to this. Obscene!

I feel the same way about people who have $50,000 to buy their way to the top of the world, regardless of trekking experience, but not one penny spent to clean up the mountains of trash they leave behind, nor to do anything about having to step over a long line of dead bodies as you approach the summit. Not enuf money for that, but enuf for the ego trip of a lifetime for some. And of course, single mothers worldwide try to figure out how to feed their kids . . . I wouldn't say this is necessarily a third-world situation, as some have commented, but everyday single mothers everywhere are feeding their kids ketchup on saltine crackers while rich people step over dead bodies atop Everest. This is the height of obscenity & why I had to tack onto your excellent commentary, Beccy! (((HUGS))) to both of you excellent writers & right-seeing people, Fondly, Margie

I wish I could agree more to your words. What joy is in bargaining with a vegetable vendor for a cent off whereas we let the posh eateries keep the change? We are harvesting the worst fruit of our deeds right now. I hail from a tiny town and undoubtedly faced financial crisis that is not uncommon. I'm grateful that I, we survived. And likewise you, it stuns my eyes to see people spending handful for dollars in mundane things.
Always in the wait of good change. Bless you and let's pray to be blessed my our Almighty. Ameen :)

Your compassion-filled words go deep in me. The harshness of life comes through. I'm left counting my blessings when some live such a threadbare life, devoid of basic comfort and security. The sting of poverty is so filled with pain, it shortens a life and fills it with misery each moment.
If only some people realized that, they wouldn't whine of depression and pain every day on their full bellies and their internet luxuries! Live one day with starvation and disease and they'll know! Where lies the tenacity of the human spirit.
Full marks to you for this hitting poem, Tahsin...

We are indeed Tahsin, lucky to have what others can only dream of. Yet even in our luck we can feel unlucky not to be on the next rung up, where you don't have to look at the price before buying. I wonder if it keeps going until you feel unlucky only to have one helicopter, private jet, holiday island....
Yet what is all of that without a mothers love?
Perhaps they aren't the poor ones after all 😀

The have and the have nots. It has always been that way and how wretched that must be for mothers everywhere who want the best for their children. Even more wretched for those who can't feed their young. A powerful poem, and yes the Internet is a luxury to many dear poet.

"another hungry mouth to feed" (Elvis)
Life is survival, especially for families with too many mouths to feed, children to buy for...they get by as they can.
the haves and have not's .....
but mothers always do what they can...
some kids will appreciate all that the mother tries to do for them...and some will have impossible expectations...and simply find life full of complaints and begrudging.

I wonder how many arms and legs it might have cost them to grow me well till today. I truly hope I don't disappoint them. Thank you Sir J. Always grateful to your words :)
From poverty, do death, and those who are still left behind to continue the suffering, wow, this is powerful, the scope od depth, and approach you took to write this poem is unique with its play on words, in a thearical sense, and direct first-person vocabulary. An enjoyable, yet tragic poem to spark the imagination on the plight of humanity, and those who have, and those who don't.

I see now. Indeed! And, as your poem suggests, change one heart and you can change the world.
