Chapter 3

A Chapter by Taemint

Asher

I stood there, my hands now at my sides, as I watched the girl run off. She had known my name. How though? I watched her entire retreat, feeling confused and somewhat sorry for her. I didn't know what else I should have done. If I had pretended to know her, it wouldn't be right. She would have had this false happiness and hope which would result as me being labeled as a fake. A liar. That girl had the wrong person, that’s all.

That pounding headache had returned yet again and brought me back to reality. It was actually worse than it had been in a while which couldn't be a good sign. But hell no way was my parents going to get me to go to a psychiatrist or doctor or any other freak like that. Oh wait, I was the freak. Right, I had forgotten that.

I walked outside, pulling out a pack of cigarettes that I always carried, and lit one. I really didn't remember when I had started smoking but it helped with the shattering headaches so…I took a long draw from the lit cigarette and my headache began to ebb away. It didn't take away the feeling the conversation with that girl had left though. That was still eating away at me like a slow frost. I looked up at the clear, blue sky, ignoring all the sounds around me, watching and waiting for my dreaded little sister to come.

There she was. That bratty nineteen year old and  recently graduated high schooler whose name was Evangeline.Evangeline Rose Clements, also known as Angel. She was around 5’4” with blonde hair, fair skin, and an attitude that was big enough for an elephant. I put on a big, fake smile and crushed the cigarette in my hand.

“ Rose!” I called, walking towards her and throwing away the cigarette while I was at it. She looked up from her phone and instantly gave me a dirty look. What had happened to that innocent and kind twelve year old girl that always gave me hugs?

“ My name is Angel not Rose. Here. “ She shoved her bag and suitcase into my hands. “ Come on, I have places to be. “

I sighed and nodded tiredly. Well, what did I expect from her? She had been like this ever since… I really couldn't remember. That was weird but I was used to it. I often couldn't remember things that had happened before seven years ago. I lead my little sister, her bags in hand, to my car.
