Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by TadKent
"

The Monsters we become when we give into temptation.

"
I'm the Monster
under your bed.
Don't you fear me,
now that I'm in your head?
And in your closet,
Oh be afraid,
I know exactly what you'll say.

Something inside me tells me to run.
From the depths of my heart, the devil says
"Stay a while, Stay a while".
When everyone else is searching for blood,
the evil inside me just won't reconcile, force a smile.

I know that you're still with me.

I see you standing there
empty heart eyes full of tears,
I think I know just what you're feeling.
Crooked smile and a hole in my heart,
Stop right there honey, don't even start.
I want to know just what you're thinking.

My mother told me "Listen Son.
Fear is the start of pain,
but don't be afraid to Love."
If you can hear me
all broken-hearted souls,
raise your voice up,
'Cause you're not the only ones.

I see you standing there
empty heart eyes full of tears,
I think I know just what you're feeling.
Crooked smile and a hole in my heart,
Stop right there honey, don't even start.
I want to know just what you're thinking.

Where were you?
Where were you when
Where were you when I needed you the most my friend?
Where were you?
Where were you when
Where were you when I caught myself falling again?
Where were you
Where were you then?

I see you standing there
empty heart eyes full of tears,
I think I know just what you're feeling.
Crooked smile and a hole in my heart,
Stop right there honey, don't even start.
I want to know just what you're thinking.

Probably not your favorite, and again, wordier than usual. The repetition with the "where were you"'s is awful on paper, but perfect for the song. One of our best songs live.

Think I would leave out the verse 'My mother told me . . . ' does not fit, for me at any rate. Controlled anger and fear induction: I hope this is Heavy Metal.

Wow. To be honest, this is my favorite. It blew me away. The evilness to it, I really like. I can relate to it also. Just amazing.

I like the poem. The repetition made the poem stronger. Allowing the reader to fall into the story.
"If you can hear me
all broken-hearted souls,
raise your voice up,
'Cause you're not the only ones."
Few will know love without knowing some pain. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Very lyrical, very jumpy, but worded strongly.

I like this one paper actually. I read it slowly so maybe that is why it sounds good on paper to me. It brings home the hurt the loss the question that people feel when love is falling apart. When we have a time in our life that is difficult and we wish "that person" was there with us to hold our hand and help us through. I found this clearly written and the emotions come pouring onto the page.
