Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by TadKent
"

The Monsters we become when we give into temptation.

"
I'm the Monster
under your bed.
Don't you fear me,
now that I'm in your head?
And in your closet,
Oh be afraid,
I know exactly what you'll say.

Something inside me tells me to run.
From the depths of my heart, the devil says
"Stay a while, Stay a while".
When everyone else is searching for blood,
the evil inside me just won't reconcile, force a smile.

I know that you're still with me.

I see you standing there
empty heart eyes full of tears,
I think I know just what you're feeling.
Crooked smile and a hole in my heart,
Stop right there honey, don't even start.
I want to know just what you're thinking.

My mother told me "Listen Son.
Fear is the start of pain,
but don't be afraid to Love."
If you can hear me
all broken-hearted souls,
raise your voice up,
'Cause you're not the only ones.

I see you standing there
empty heart eyes full of tears,
I think I know just what you're feeling.
Crooked smile and a hole in my heart,
Stop right there honey, don't even start.
I want to know just what you're thinking.

Where were you?
Where were you when
Where were you when I needed you the most my friend?
Where were you?
Where were you when
Where were you when I caught myself falling again?
Where were you
Where were you then?

I see you standing there
empty heart eyes full of tears,
I think I know just what you're feeling.
Crooked smile and a hole in my heart,
Stop right there honey, don't even start.
I want to know just what you're thinking.

Probably not your favorite, and again, wordier than usual. The repetition with the "where were you"'s is awful on paper, but perfect for the song. One of our best songs live.

:) Song? I'd love to hear this sung. I love this. Especially the opposition knowing what your thinking. :) Very nice. :)

This actually is my favorite of yours, Tad. It reaches inside my heart and holds it gently, but almost threateningly. It reminds me to be cautious around my own demons, not to give into that same temptation I've written so many poems about. The words by themselves are stunning; I wish I could hear it live as well, I can only imagine how much more the music adds to them. Well done. :)

I Love those lines

"My mother told me "Listen Son.
Fear is the start of pain,
but don't be afraid to Love."
If you can hear me
all broken-hearted souls,
raise your voice up,
'Cause you're not the only ones."
I enjoyed reading this!

I adore this... it may look awful on paper but I agree defiantly great for a song! It's quite catchy...

Let me tell you... I love this :)
It's not often I can say this about lyrics, but it was very easy to think of more than one song to go with it. Top class!

I liked how it started out a little dark, and then slowly it felt like someone was pulling open the shades and letting in a little light, just a little hope. Still leaving you with shadows, and you still had your fears. Someone was there once to save you, but they didn't seem to be coming to rescue anymore. Maybe one day it might change, but you were still with the shadows, still with the fear and the doubt in your own mind.

Sorry, I'm rambling; My mind got off track. XD

I think the repetition was great, it put more impact into the words and gave it more emotion. Great job. :)
