i AM

i AM

A Poem by Alex Figueroa
"

Telling people who you are...

"
i AM Alex Figueroa

My mom describes me as outgoing
But my friends call me Mr.Incredible!

I keep the memories in my heart
I remember all the struggles
I've learned to love and get love in return
I hide my true feelings from all but one
I read philosophy

I shout "FIGHT!"
i AM "Figgy"

I see the best of someone
I hear the truth
I taste the sweetness of a persons essence
I feel accomplished
I think openly

I whisper "live in the light..."
i AM your guardian angel

I want justice
I will always arrive in your aid
I won't ever accept pity
I can protect my Dearly Beloved
I pretend I have an "S" on my chest

I sing that "I AM"
i AM Strength

I dream of a world to raise my future daughter in
I'm afraid of disappointment
I reach enlightenment early
I say sorry when I crack my friends fragile trust
I love Mrs. Linda Figueroa, who has helped me transcend into grace

I declare for the world to hear "Listen to me!"
i AM human

Author's Note

Alex Figueroa
A poem for those who need or want to find out who you are, on the inside and out. A poem to challenge yourself to see what your values are and to see the real you, for who you REALLY are and declare to anyone that tries to label you that " i AM...".
