Pain

Pain

A Chapter by TaciturnPhantom
"

A villanelle.

"

I lie in the darkness, hidden from the pain
Hiding, shielding myself from the world
But from this, there is nothing to gain

I can do nothing but hide in vain
As the cursed fingers of light jab cruelly at me
I lie in the darkness, hidden from the pain

Sounds hurt, causing grief and pain
I cover my ears to block the noise
But from this, there is nothing to gain

People's emotions ravage my mind
Extreme empathy: it's a gift and a curse
I lie in the darkness, hidden from the pain

Skin contact creates shockwaves of pain
That dominates my instincts and emotions
But from this, there is nothing to gain

Sometimes I am relieved of this pain
It is these days that I am grateful for
I lie in the darkness, hidden from the pain
But from this, there is nothing to gain
