Lovely Flowers

Lovely Flowers

A Poem by Chris

Sweet little flowers
Blowing in the wind
There are no elephants
To step on you petals
Show to the world your color
Never fear
For you are lovely like the sun
And everything will be alright

Sweet little flowers
Broken and frayed
An apology is not enough
To fix your lovely petals
To restore your glittering color
Always fear
For you are burning like the sun
And everything could turn to ashes

Sweet little flowers
You are gone now
I look only at the scorched ground
And frayed little petals
Drifting off with the smoky wind

Sweet little flowers
I am crying for you
The tears come down like rain
Rain now falling from the sky
Hitting the blackened ground softly
Pufts of sediment rising up with the impact

Sweet little flowers
I have come back to your grave
It has been quite a time
And I have nearly forgotten
The perpetual loss in my heart

Sweet little flowers
You are growing again!
I see with my eyes
Beautiful colors on petals
Lilacs and Roses
Daisies and Tulips
Reds and yellows
Blues and purples
You are alive!

Sweet little flowers
You make my heart beat right again
For when you died
So did part of me
Now I see all the colors
That I have missed for so long
Now, we are alive!

That was the message I was shooting for, Im happy you identified it
A very touching and seemingly long journey the sweet little flowers had...seems like a moment that swiftly turned into a lifetime. I love how you mixed the elements of nature, that are silently participating in our everyday heartaches. Lovely and so well done :)
