The Mountain SpeaksA Poem by Imagine ThisInspired by the mountain situated next to my house. I feel like it speaks to me in some way.
A billion years' worth of knowledge,
Rich information preserved within. Trees grow from him, Taking advantage of the riches in the soil, They cover his scars beneath, Evidence of his survival abilities. Remains of life's origins are harvested from his loins. Through the trees he speaks, They whisper to the breeze. He speaks of the Great Reign of the Dinosaurs, And watched as the Greats fell from grace. His wisdom is admired by the animals that find refugee in him. His charm irresistible, His auro marvelled. Majestic in stature, his appeal appreciated. To some he is a mystery, To others he takes away the misery. The rumble of summer thunders, And lashes of startling lightening echoes within. The mountain speaks.. He speaks of the Khoi and San, Through rock paintings that portrays a tragedy incited by colonisation. He speaks of a dark past, through the black clouds that covers the horizon. And yet the blooming of the veld, portrays a bright future. The mountains speaks... He speaks a language of peace and tranquillity, His silent state speaks a message that penetrates deep into the core of the heart. He speaks through the imagination of a little girl About fairies and mermaids. Though along in years now, His voice can be heard by those who care to listen. © 2016 Imagine ThisAuthor's Note
