Embraced SolitudeA Poem by Jared AustinHiking through a Forest
strolling through the Forest,
to quiet my soul, and
digest rampaging thoughts and emotions
racing through the everyday.
I needed to slow down,
to witness peace.
nature enveloped me,
reminding me of the inherent beauty
one finds in the world when looking.
a squirrel gathering and eating,
preparing in Fall,
harvesting nuts for Winter hard on his heels.
innocent fawn wanders
looking for water to quench its thirst,
before childhood gallivanting resumes.
it travels slowly, at first unsure of the world
around, but grows bolder by the sight
of Mother – a protective presence.
farther
flowers reach for the sky,
spreading in full bloom -
crimson, bright yellow, royal blue, lavender
to dazzle the eye,
more combinations than can be counted.
above it all
stretching high -
towering trees,
soaring with pride,
providing protection, shelter, and food
for the creatures lying within.
Peace. Strength. Renewal.
Its simplicity refreshes for the road ahead.
