Savage Beauty

Savage Beauty

A Poem by Jared Austin

Hunters of the night.
Worshippers of the moon.
Eyes, an otherworldly savage gleam.

Gentle turbulence,
Placid tempest
Among wild;
Raising young with care
yet forcing fearless pack mentality
Nature requires.

Seamless unity
feeds the pack,
protects the pack,
survives in the pack.

Majestic alone.
Serenading the moon,
Its sparkling beauty reflected
in their Golden orbs.

If I were to be other
A wolf.

This is beautiful. You've really got some excellent imagery here, and I think you really capture the whole wolf mentality well - you encompass both the "pack" mentality as well as the "lone wolf" idea. I would nitpick at your punctuation, but honestly I think it works quite well for this particular poem. The capitalization of "Golden" and the emjambment of "Eyes" puzzles me a little, but it has an interesting effect on the reader. Well done!
