During Slavery

During Slavery

A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY

Africa
black pride
bribed
men women
shekels
ocean
sharks
vessel
America
homesick

south auction
plantation
summer crops
men bullseye
dogs spot

sexual craze
mixed race
discriminate
rape
death
liberate
New York subway
California gold mine
Canada skyline.

I like the way you have used key words that depict scenes from the transatlantic slave trade.
For those that study history, which is very important indeed, they would know exactly what you're referring to.
And still yet there are key words, such as 'sexual craze', 'mixed race', 'discriminate', 'rape', that even the unschooled can grasp to make sense of the subject matter.
WELL DONE!
