No Room to Die

No Room to Die

A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY

In this dungeon I sit
I stare through few bars
trap'd cobblestone walls
square shape
metal door
unable to explore
time ticks slow
nowhere to go

In this dungeon
felons commit
minds pretend
make up friends
exchange could have been

In this dungeon
portion of dark embodies
emptiness overlays
shattered thoughts
pouring out cries
59 years to go, thinking
no room to die.

Roxane, one of your best! Gut-wrenching... leaves the reader empty and sad. And, though we’re all responsible for our actions, we don’t all have the same good examples and influences. And, sometimes this is the tragic result. Thanks for sharing this one.

This profound write...bears the very heavy weight of
isolation ...fabricating freedom in bits and pieces to survive..
Be this a literal or metaphoric incarceration...
you brought this...keep writing !

Hey J H thanks very kindly for the review and read
59 years. A long time dear Roxane. Some prisons are a lifetime and sometime we must break down the walls of the prisons and move on to a better place. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Yes Word you said it. Thanks for the review and read
the regrets and knowledge comes too late...if only we would have made different decisions, but for those incarcerated, there are so many years to think about it all...too many.
