This Day

This Day

A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY

To life, comes a day.
At the twilight of a cold boisterous morn, birds sings.
I made my way into food heaven to find a seat.
I set upon my kitchen's chair. My attention veered at
an open window.
It's curtains were designs of utensils for cooking.
In no time did I peered my senses into fresh cut air.
Air spliced wit hints of salty dew to set the scene's mood.
Spells of roses hit me.
I smiled.
Happy for a dear moment from the smell of a rose.
Fresh cut red roses.
Long stems to my liking.
I sat without a care in the world.
Loving every minute.
My wait isn't long to sit without stress.
Until, I think to indulge in a drink.
A hot liquid taste to satisfy my buds.
My soul.
My time.
I'll drink.
I wish to delight myself in a morning cup of tea.
And some Uneeda biscuits for snack.
Smells & taste of practical goodness.
I am loved and grateful for this day.
