Damn That Dog, I LoveA Poem by ROXANE DORSEY
Someone yelled, "Yo, Roxane get your dog!"
I turned to the right, nothing. I swiftly shifted to the left, coming full throttle, a pit. A red nose pitbull wanted every inch of my little Havanese. She didn't stand a chance against something as tall as my knees, on all fours, but standing on two that pit's top stopped at my upper torso. Had that pit got to my pup, things would've been gruesome. It had a showdown with my lil' shaggy dog. My poor little puppy didn't stand a chance, if I hadn't had front center tween the two. No brave human step in to help a helpless woman fend off a pit, not one bit. I used my head, pick puppy up instead. I pity that pit cause that wasn't it. He came up from behind, on a sneak tip. I lost the sight of him that quick. Next thing I felt was a snip. The damn dog thought I was it he bit. The only thing I could do was kick that mutt. I positioned myself twice and side kick that red nose pit. I wasn't upset with the dog not one bit. The owner made a big stink of it. Because she had a warrant, she wasn't worried about no "damn dog or me. The woman wanted a hit and didn't care not one bit. Drugs alter minds and her mind was made up, not give a f*ck.
