Fame & Friends

Fame & Friends

A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY

All that for the price to be known, comes the pain.
Loyal to a deadly sin.
I thought to have many friends but in
reality they didn't want me to win.
Damn, the same folks granddad warned
me bout.  He didn't even have to shout.
His words made firm and clear.
I didn't want to listen, yet I heard.
No name is a better fame.

People can build a person up in one day
with fame & money.
None finds it funny when it tumbles down.
One allegation will blow up in you face
like the twin towers.
Nothing, I say nothing can stop it's demise.
Did you really think I was surprised?
I learned from others.
After all we are one another's teachers
without cost.

great last line...doesn't take money to learn the ways of the heart, of love and of friendship--

the more we have of each, the more there is to tear down---we just have to decide what is most important to us.
nicely done.
