A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY

I'm a fool to think we'd get our
Forty Acres and a Mule.
I went to school, learned the
golden rule, only to become
life's biggest fool.  Thinking
how couldn't this be, what
my country did for me.
To slave, that's life.  Treat a
person right.  At least respect
when turning your back.
Never gave a hoot on how
freed blacks made their loot.
New found freedom folks had
one another's backs, 'til evil
hatred made new tracks.
Lead good people astray
pushed 'em until there was
no other way.
God help'd us to this day.

This is amazing! Preach! From what I can tell you're talking about how when the south freed the slaves they were suppose to get 40 acres and a mule, but most didn't. In fact some slaves weren't released right away. Some of the union soldiers had to go though and force the southern slave owners to free their slaves.

I agree my friend. Mad men and women running our world. Hard to see justice in the modern world. Thank you Roxane for sharing the amazing poetry.

Hey thanks for the review.
God help us all Roxane! strong rhythm and rap feel ...heart felt expression that poor people everywhere can relate to ... add disenfranchised and there is trouble ... crime then becomes a viable answer ..sad so sad ... reminds me of what the prophets have said "For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, "Who is the LORD?" And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name." Proverbs 30:9 :)
