Sure Feelings to the Beat

Sure Feelings to the Beat

A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY

Upon entering the church, immediately the
beating of drums summoned my participation.
I didn't hesitate to move left, right, up & down.
My head & hands lead my body's band.
March on sweet saints.
March on ol' faithful one.
I clapped.
I hummed.
And stomped my feet to an uncontrollable
gospel beat.  I tuned in.
Yes, I felt apart of it.
Whatever it was my soul connected wit
the sure feeling wit something out of
this world.  Something I felt before like
opening heaven's door.

The love of your faith and the spirituality of this one is fantastic. I could almost hear the gospel choir and feel the beat. Lydi**

A nice idea.....

Losing yourself to the beat and energy of the gospel church power. I have never bore witness to the energy that pours forth in a gospel church but i am well aware of it's power and the magnificence of it's relationship to song. I imagine one does get swept away, body and soul, in the wave of energy and devotion to the Lord.

Your piece gives the reader a descriptive insight into the emotions and power of the gospel church. Very well written.
