MOMMY CAN YOU HEAR ME?

MOMMY CAN YOU HEAR ME?

A Poem by ROXANE DORSEY
"

THOUGHTS OF A BABY

"
MOMMY CAN YOU HEAR ME?
I'M COMING ALONG JUST FINE.
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON.
WE BOTH FEEL THE SUN SHINE.
THE DOCTORS SAY WE'RE OK.
I JUST AS SOON BE ON MY WAY.
CHARACTER FLAWS YOU'LL SOON SEE.
I CRY ANYTIME FOR ANYTHING EVEN
THE ABSENCE OF YOUR SCENT.
OH MOMMY, CAN YOU HEAR ME?
I SURE HOPE I'M THE FIRST TO COME
ALONG!
MY TENDER LOUD CRIES IS MY
MOMMY'S NEW SONG.
BURPEE, POOPEE AND PEE-PEE
THEY SAID, "A YOUNG MOMMY YOU'LL BE".
OH MOMMY, CAN YOU HEAR ME?
IT'S THE TUNE WE BABIES ARE EQUIPPED
WITH TO SING SINCE TALK IS CHEAP!
MY CRIES ARE FREE(PRICELESS TO YOUR EARS), AH!
BUT I COST.  THINK BOUT A JOB(NO)-----TIME(NO)
OH WELL DON'T INDULGE IN PRE-MARITAL AFFAIRS.

i am a single dad raising four so this line in particular gave me the chuckles:
"BURPEE, POOPEE AND PEE-PEE"
i know it all too well ;) and your closing line kind of surprised me .. it certainly is wise and humbling advice

thank you dearly.
" SINCE TALK IS CHEAP!
MY CRIES ARE FREE(PRICELESS TO YOUR EARS)"

I laughed at the Burpee, Poopee, Pee-Pee...then realized all the truth captured in the above lines. Not a real poet, I'm primarily a story teller, therefore not a credible critic. There are others here that will help you with grammar/spelling/punctuation/form/format. I commend you on the content. I've not seen one that addresses an unborn baby's "voice" before. Well done.
