Gave all the good I could

it wasn't good enough

and watched you crush many a dreams

How would I ever feel right

with hopes ripped at the seams

. when feeling unfairly distanced ... we experience pain ... then we express it ... and then ... we either find a way of covering the distance ... with the same person ... or, another person ... unless ... we stagnate or regress ... and yes, the context of love changes ... to include more and more people ... for instance, i love eben ... but now i love everyone who was abused as a little boy ... and i want to do something for all of them ... because i need to do something substantial for my own redemption ... so, it's not out of any other feeling but love and gratitude that we help people ... love is powerful ... when we give it our best shot ... and then see people behave insensitively ... we investigate and find out what the core problem is ... and then attempt to solve that core problem not just for that person but for everyone ...

. this is a brilliant poem ... it maps the distance that needs to be covered ... it's like a brilliant diagnostic tool ... exceptionally well written ...
