Aunt Ethel

Aunt Ethel

A Poem by TTBoy28

Precocious

Yet she knew how to show us

exactly what it meant to be

all that we could see

Emotions swelled the notions

of mystical beliefs and potions

Well book-read

released intellect inside her head

Never an idle word spoken

She was the bus ride

that required more than a token

Memories of long ago

continue into today making words

forever flow

With a child of her own

she makes neighborhoods homegrown

If sister had a blister

Aunt Ethel became the mister

who provided tissues for the issues

Always young at heart

the world would rust if we were kept apart

If cohesion became a lesion

Auntie Ethel settled the score with reason

See her on our stage

writing another page

showing and telling all that is the rage

just how to keep it all together

on the wing of a prayer

yet light as a feather
