The Blackness of the Crow

The Blackness of the Crow

A Poem by TTBoy28

It is in my nature to gouge

to scavenge what you will not remove

with your hands or feet

How else will I survive

except for your lack of dutiness

for your self-indulgence sees me as your servant

  anyway

yet I do not call you, B*****d, or evil, as you stare at me

either directly or out the side of your shifty, beadie eyes

I see what you do

and what you discard is reflective of the company you keep

You know, what you can't take home to Mama

Otherwise, I would be circling your filthy domicile for what wears

those disgusting pampers and tampons instead

of the bodies you hurl aside after removing that pig's skin from yours

And you have the nerve to be partial to me

What's more is

  I want to live

And the fullness I possess deter even owls from trying to trample on

 my domain

You snap my photo and there is no glare

Evil me?

Though you may think can you shoo me away by tossing a stone or pretending

to do so with your tawdry little claw

Beware of me from dusk til dawn

I am much more than what you want me to be or

 what you think I am

Do not mistake my Blackness as it matches my eyeshade

I blend beautifully with the life created for me

 but give me time

and I will be sitting on the hood of your car when you come out in the morning

or taking up residence on your favorite park bench

I may even have a little gift to share with you

like your precious little puss 'n boots tries to do in an effort to show her

  love and affection

All as a result of your trash

And also, do remember that when I let out my "Cah"

It is my way of signalling to others my next proposed target

Yes, I am like an elephant

My brothers and sisters the vulture

have no love for you eiher

But as long as you are around, we will all be here

Then again, we'll be here, even when you're gone

How else are you going to be disposed of?
