The Gentle Giant of Corporate America

The Gentle Giant of Corporate America

A Poem by TTBoy28

All his life meekness became him

A kind, "Hello"

followed by an even kinder, "How are you"

was part of his daily repertoire

Assistant could have been his middle name

But as time passed

and the company tightened its grip

every man fought to sustain his own

Wolves became they

solos grew to packs

Overstaying his welcome

 his demeanor was challenged

But he would not adapt even when their

 fangs showed

Relentless were they

He was a man too gentle to live among the wolves

and grew intolerant of the constant blindsided ambushes

Assuming the position with his back against the wall

he knew even the most gentlest animal must attack

With patience and precision as the wounds grew

And all it took was once to grip the jugular

of the pack's leader to cease the offenses

A solo surprise wearing a corporate suit

with a roar that was heard by few but felt by many
