Why he was named "Harsh"

Why he was named "Harsh"

A Poem by TTBoy28

Cultural differences apart

not viewing the hue of one's birthright

Love may not be in the cards

for the birthright declares it so

The aching for the tenderness

that holds one's attention steadfast

burns as if in a Hell designed and created

for a most formidable religious rite of passage

As clandestine are the risky engagements

so are the short-handed messages passed

between the masses as sheets mustn't reveal the love

wasted and spent apart

Fantastic are the dripping and stern thoughts

the paternal instincts forbid

for perception is deception when the lover

is the subject

There is much to a name

as one should be chosen to reflect desire

Fathers supply and can often deny when the

eyes of a boy child foretell a secret inheritance

The lineage begins and ends

Fathers take their proper place in society

bestowing their sacrilege upon a child

with subtle yet obvious fury

And the aching lingers

reticent to reveal only a middle identity from a father

Head lowered in disgrace brought on by father's own prophecy

and not by the culture he holds so dear
