A Boy and a Gun

A Boy and a Gun

A Poem by TTBoy28

He held the gun

 like he held his child

knowing that either way

one of them would have a future

So many dreams deferred

 because of lives deterred

 wanting to walk the path

 while enjoying things fast

 thinking it will all last

forever

Now he is reminded

of the bullet in each gun he holds

ready to aim to change a life

If only someone had said, "No" or

"Wait"

there may only be one load to carry

one burden to stake claims to

If only something was said

 something would be dead

Someone would be running towards

 something

 and not away from someone

But neither the bullet nor the gun

 is responsible for the end

The user is the abuser

and the judge, jury and executioner

Yet there is a child

who knows how to remove safety

Now this is intense...a well penned piece.
My only gripe is to back it up into small stanza's
then you will have a superb write..nice job...
