Long Live the Strange Fruit

Long Live the Strange Fruit

A Poem by TTBoy28

Long live the strange fruit

For forever they are seen as loot

They want to dance and play so gay

So their seeds will know some day

A journey that was oh so long

And the day is still wrong

Shining brighter than they smell

For there is still no other place than Hell

Be careful what you put in blood

For hard times come like a flood

For no love for the weary will come

Hands always open wanting some

Sow your seeds well

For inside you live to tell

See all the many crows

Ready to eat you right under your nose

Strange fruit that is not the same

They just learned how to play the game

Forgetting the past, is what they must do

Thinking it better for them and you

Sellout, no be yourself

Just please don’t blame anybody else

When your day comes, when they remind you of who you are

Running won’t get you very far

Long live the strange fruit

For forever they are seen as loot

They want to dance and play so gay

So their seeds will know some day
