The Woman and the Ugly Cry

The Woman and the Ugly Cry

A Poem by TTBoy28

When a woman felt

 everyone knew it

so often until she would frown every time a

woman would cry

The Ugly Cry was something onlookers hoped a woman

 would avoid

no matter how urgent the matter

But at least it was a cry

cleansing the soul of sorrow and joy

At least it was a cry

And this was something not every woman would experience

The 30 year old office assistant experienced labor pains for 26 hours with her husband

When it was all over, she cried hard for what seemed like 26 hours

There was a woman who thought that she should have some respect for herself and act  lady-like even though they had been trying to have children for 6 years

A woman lost her husband in an accident as he was headed home from work

 celebrating their 30th anniversary

She broke into the Ugly Cry at the scene of the crime

There was the woman who had never felt that love the widow had and thought her cry was embarrassing

Five million dollar lottery won by a single mother and all kinds of feelings were shown

And that same woman who thought it so disrespectful and embarrassing all the times before

looked at herself and found she was without

 she had nothing

she had criticism and pessimism and folded her hands and

bowed her head and prayed to be able to cry

to cry because of the pain she felt for not being able to feel anything

The prayers continued

the cry did not begin and she finally asked, "Why?"

She thought she had not received her answer.

Day after day, she denounced any woman crying.

Night after night, she begged to cry.

She pleaded for someone to love her again like her rapist did

She pleaded for forgiveness for aborting that child

She slit her both her wrists remembering that her ex-husband told her she deserved it

 before he left

And she cried

She cried and cried

and in an instant realized that she was ugly and no one would see her that way

Until she saw those she criticized

and she felt sorrow although they were now smiling and laughing

She apologized to each and every person and learned that in the time of sorrow and joy

 no one cared about appearances

It takes a tough and hardened soul to not be able to cry

The Ugly Cry wasn't actually so ugly at all

Its judgment came from one who could not cry

making it one of the most beautiful things on earth

Very lovely read...Sometimes tears aren't cried for sadness sometimes they're cried for selfish reason.....So this is very good. But your points are very nice...And they work well. The structure and ryhtim is good...So really nice job!
