DadA Poem by TTBoy28
He may not have known how to use an Easy Bake Oven but he could always braid Suzy's hair He may not have immediately known how to dress me but he did get help He may not have always told me how smart he knew I was when I showed him the "D" I got in English class It's just wasn't his fault that he couldn't help me He may not have always picked me up on time from school because he always had to wait for his relief on his second job He may not have known how to tell me about why a boy pulled my hair everyday but I am so glad Daddy taught me how to throw a great left hook He may not have been able stay awake for all of my school performances but at least he was there He may not have been there when my first love Bradley broke up with me but at least he let me cry on his shoulder as he told me how lucky I was that he did that He may not have had much fashion sense but Daddy did make me glow like an angel at my prom He may not have wanted me to leave home and then get married but Daddy told me that he would always be there for me He may not have had Mom there beside him to witness all this but he helped me know all about her and how she would be so proud of me and how she would have wanted to be there too He may not have always used big words but he did know just the right thing to say He may not have chosen anyone to share his life with afterwards but Dad was happy and his love for the one that slipped through his fingers lives on forever © 2010 TTBoy28 |
