"As I sit"

"As I sit"

A Poem by TTBoy28

"As I sit"

is such a contrite opening

for a poem

considering no one in their

right mind could write standing up

There are other things you could do

standing (even sexual things)

But one cannot write

effectively standing up

One gets in trouble standing up

because you're in everyone's sight

As you sit

you can place your back to the

rest of the world

As long as you sit in a corner

no one can see your face and

you can see no one

  That is poetry

Performing for no

audience but yourself

When you take a stand, you deny

yourself the opportunity for honesty

You are the servant of your audience

The silent ones are the true ones

They have nothing to prove

They change for themselves

When you begin a poem with

"As I sit"

everyone sees you as you want to

 be seen

Real poets just don't do that
