Anticipation

Anticipation

A Poem by TTBoy28

Back and forth

 he paces in desperation

just to see her and make her spot

again

 because of him

Pure physical attraction

 besieges them both

Yet the agony

 of meeting his internet goddess

 nearly rips him to shreds

Yet he paces

 the sidewalk and road anxiously

and uses his phone to dial out

to connect with someone who may

have heard from his internet goddess

Yet he paces

because his absence from their life

becomes more important than the proximity

 of turmoil that envelops him

Call after call

Yet he paces

 abrupt with every confirmation

someone tries to break through unable

to reveal itself, and he misses the call

Yet he paces

 if only the internet goddess

 had mentioned a different location

if only there was a stronger signal

Yet he paces

 as he blames himself

for not making tonight the night

And as he ends the chat

he lowers his head and shakes it

then lifts it to see his wife had not

given or received the wrong e-mail information

Then he remembers she was on

 the subway train
