The Alien

The Alien

A Poem by TTBoy28

I bet it would be strange

 being an alien

You couldn't just stare at people

 walking by

or push a shopping cart

in front of them at the store without saying, "Excuse Me"

You couldn't even tell your child

that you both are in time out mode and then spanking the hell out of him

 for not listening

But you could imagine it happening

before the authorities come to take you away

I bet it would be strange

 being an alien

You couldn't just go into the DMV and demand

 a replacement license

or apply for a job as a Bank Teller

You couldn't even pay cash for a three million

 dollar house

But you could imagine it happening

before the authorities come to take you away

I bet it would be strange

 being an alien

You would try and talk to people

and make them understand you with force

Or you could follow them

to their children's playground and just sit there

You could even call their phone repeatedly

and hang up when they answer - sometimes,

you could even just breathe heavily on the phone

But you could imagine it happening

before the authorities come to take you away

I bet it would be strange

 being an alien
