The Lottery

The Lottery

A Poem by TTBoy28

Come one, come all

 let your money fall

Just take a chance on luck

You'd better have it to spare

or you'll surely lose your hair

In the end you'll spend more than a buck

Come on, oh gentile

 just feel fortune's wheel

 Close your eyes and pray

Cross your heart and hope to die

so what if you'll have to lie

Forget the rent you'll have to pay

Come come, you fool

Let me take you to school

Go and pawn that car you drive

Take a chance

 on this great romance

This rush will keep you alive

Come gather around

 from town to town

It doesn't get any better than this

If it's not your turn

 you're gonna crash and burn

I'll seal your fate with a kiss

Nicely satired.

And rightly so - it's a tax on desperation.

This was a very good poem and fittingly describes the "lottery mania" that so many fall prey to. People would be better off putting their cash in the bank!
