In Holy Matrimony

In Holy Matrimony

A Poem by TTBoy28

Let's hold hands

as we walk to meet him

He'll make us hold one another

Let's feel each other's heartbeat

as we walk to meet him

He'll make us into one lover

Let's walk slowly

we'll take our time - no need to rush

He's not going anywhere

Let's lose the bouquet now

it makes no sense to keep it

He'll act like he doesn't care

Let's not come face to face

and say, "I do"

He'll be taken by surprise

Let's just say, "I will"

for the sake of speaking words

He'll still see through our lies

Let's not use rings

don't even raise our hands

He'll still form a union

Let's hold hands

as we leave him

He'll still feel our confusion

I like this piece. You can do a lot with simple words, it's a bit astounding. I admit I'm slightly confused as to what is going on here. Are they just experiencing normal confusion every couple does, and trying to make the moment their own? Or is there some kind of fraud being done "He'll still see through our lies"? You may want to clear this up, but I could just be one reader that didn't get it.
