Thank You

Thank You

A Poem by TTBoy28

On the day that you left

the air was warm and the trees

whispered, "Be thankful"

I looked up and was blinded

lowered my head and covered

my eyes

And again, I heard, "Be thankful, Now"

I looked around

and saw no one

My mind was leaving as well

I went back to my starting point

contemplating everything

And the voice sounded again,

"Be thankful"

Tears fell as the key unlocked the door

I wanted to yell, "Why, what is there

to be thankful for?"

When I pushed open the door,

I saw the photo album on the table

in the foyer

You loved that spot

You said, "People would love to see

all the good times we had together"

And then, it all made perfect sense to me

Very simple, but in a beautiful way. You didn't run with the usual cliches, perhaps describing the pain you felt. I like that the trees whisper this, along with a voice. Very nice :).
