Mama, may I...

Mama, may I...

A Poem by TTBoy28

Mama,

 may I hold your hand

 when we cross the street?

I just love the way you look

 you always smell so sweet

Mama,

 may I sign you up

 for show and tell?

 Everyone will then see

and know why I'm always so well

Mama,

 may I lay my head

on your lap as you read to me?

The sound of your voice is

 oh so heavenly

Mama,

may I ask why you worked

  so much?

 I'm so glad that you

 still have that soft touch

Mama,

may I ask, as a child,

did you have what I do now?

 If you didn't,

  I don't see how

Mama,

may I tell you, "I love You,"

 over and over again?

I'll say it differently each time

so that you'll keep being my friend

Mama,

may I ask God to keep

 you around forever?

It just wouldn't be the same

 if we're not together

Mama,

may I ask you to depend

 on me someday?

Maybe I could return the favor

 somehow  someway
